Dear colleagues and friends, I would like to invite you to the 5th NUH-NUS Otolaryngology Conference from March 8th to 12th 2010. This year, our conference will focus on “Endoscopic Sinus and Skull Base Surgery as well as Rhinoplasty". These are two areas in the field of Otolaryngology which have taken tremendous leaps in the past 5 to 10 years. The conference will be conducted over four and a half days. The objective of the conference is to help the participants understand the contemporary issues in rhinoplasty, and sinus surgery as well as endoscopic skull base surgery. It will allow the participant to keep abreast with the evolving trends in these fields and also equip them with the necessary skills to perform the various surgeries. To achieve the objectives, the conference will be divided into several symposia, each focusing on a particular topic and will be run like instructional courses. To improve understanding of each topic, a combination of didactic lectures to address the basic knowledge, case discussions to illustrate applications and practical issues and where appropriate, video-clips of actual surgical procedures will be shown. Incorporated into the conference are 2 Hands-on workshops on cadaveric dissection in Rhinoplasty, and Endoscopic Sinus and Skull Base Surgery. For those unable to secure places to do hands-on dissection, we have made special arrangements for live transmission of these workshops so that every participant of the conference will have the opportunity to see the faculty’s demonstration during the workshops. This will greatly improve the participants’ appreciation of the anatomy as well as understanding of how various surgeries are performed. This conference is targeted at Otolaryngologists, Rhinologists, Facial plastic Surgeons, Head & Neck Surgeons as well as Fellows and Residents. It will garner the collective wisdom of an excellent Faculty from Singapore as well as North America and Asia.
